Featured is stamp #615, postmarked on the First Day of Issue 27 April, 1983. This series features Steam Locomotives still in use in South Africa. This stamp features the huge Class 16E steam locomotive, which was first placed in service in 1935 and is still in use near Kimberley, a famous diamond mining center in South Africa. Originally designed to pull fast express trains, this particular locomotive is capable of speeds in excess of 100 mph. This cover is mounted on a page which gives detailed information about this cover, issued by the Postal Commemorative Society from their First Day Covers From Around The World collection. This is in Mint condition.
